There and Back Again: A Hobbit's Tale

Ian McKellen: [explaining how he acts so well] Case in point: Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson comes to me in New Zealand and said to me: Sir Ian, I want you to be Gandalf the Wizard. And I said to him: You are aware that I am not really a wizard?

Ok, so I am like, 80% finished with Lego Indiana Jones. I really don't have much left, I just haven't purchased all the extra characters yet. I decided I don't like on free play mode when they give you a bunch of characters, and they are all different versions of the same guys, and then extra bad guys that look a like, but don't all do the same things. I like to keep it simple. My favorite characters are Thuggee and the bazooka guy. I didn't like the bazooka guy much until I got invincibility and I stopped blowing myself up. I dislike that it takes so long to load, you have to "travel" to each spot on the map before you get to "walk around" the spot that the level you are playing is located. I would say I like Lego Star Wars far better, however this game isn't bad. What, you may ask, does this have to do with Lord of the Rings? I am glad you asked!

Last night as I was starting into my cold fighting drug induced stupor called sleep, I recall asking my husband why there isn't a Lego Lord of the Rings. His reply "they would be too long." Well, yes, there is a lot of "paring down" that would need to be done, but think of the possible levels there. Wow. Each of the 3 could be a "complete saga" all on its own. You have a huge variety of characters and you could give all kinds of cool things. Gollum could could have all kinds of crazy cool powers. Elves of course could get into magic places speaking languages. The dwarf could dig and yield his ax. Hobbits would of course be the "shorty" characters. Wizards, well they of course have "the force" like powers. You have endless possibilities for bad guys.

Any way, you get the point. I think there should be a Lego LOTR. I would totally get it. Just so long as it was superior to Star Wars, and not rather dull like Indy.

Are these the kind of ideas that other people get when they are on cold medicine?
