The Great MN Get Together

Nick and I went to the State Fair yesterday. This was the first time since 2005. The past few years budgeting has gotten in the way of our enjoyment of the fair. This year Nick volunteered to take blood pressures in the U of M building. His reward was 2 free tickets to get in. YAY! He also has a friend that grew up very close to the fairgrounds, so he worked it out with her to park in her parent's driveway. That saved us paying for parking or the bus. YAY!

Of course we still paid for the food. We did try a few new things. Some were great, some were a disappointment.
Lots of people at the fair.

Cheese curds...the very reason for going to the fair!

Mmmmm....fresh, fried, greasy cheesy goodness!

We tried the Texas Tater Dog. It was NOT worth the $. The potatoes were nothing special. I'd stick with the corn dog or pronto pup!

Yes, this is Joe Mauer on a stick!

A thoughtful wooden man pose.

Spamburger with cheese! Yum-O!

My approving bite.

We did find a few twins players "hanging out" but I wish there would have been more. Talk about the photo-ops!

Definitely worth the money was the Norwegian Banana Split. Ole and Lena's also has hotdish on a stick. We did not get that. This Banana split was amazing!! The banana wasn't mushy and the "fried" wasn't soggy. It was great! I would recommend getting this.

A shout out to EcoLab, and they had free samples of yogurt.

Nick with MN's Largest Boar. He was big!

I am pretty sure this is one of the "MN famous" Heldt goats.

We saw Micah, Taryn and Michael and Aimee for a few minutes before we headed out. They are sharing cotton candy.

Hand stamps in case we wanted to return later in the evening. We did not return.
