Snow in February?

Yes, there is snow in February in Minnesota. I don't know if it is because deep down people hate the weather in Minnesota or if it is wishful thinking that "global warming" has finally come true, but there were an awful lot of people that seemed surprised that it was going to and then did snow on Thursday. It was also "the biggest storm this year." I think that because I didn't have a job that required me to clear the sidewalks every 30 minutes, or have to battle the storm on the drive home...it didn't seem like that big of a deal. I was out in it for a little bit, but it just didn't seem like it was that bad. We got about an inch an hour....or a little less depending where you live. I was excited to get the snow. This time of year is always hard for me because I want winter to be over, yet I know in MN we have a few more months of it. And then we get warm ups that melt the snow and make everything look brown and dingy. I don't like that part. I know it will be the end of March or early April before we start to see things come back to life...so I say, let there be snow. It isn't that cold this time of year (highs are above zero and almost always in the double digits) and the snow wont last forever. So I say again, let there be snow. (and drive safely!)

Seriously. And really the weatherpeople and journalists need to stop sensationalizing the who "biggest snow of the season" for something that is 6 or 7 inches. If you are going to use the word BIG it should be more like 30 (I'm just saying.)

Also, people need to get better tires. I didn't have trouble driving home except for being fearful that the people spinning their tires fruitlessly were going to suddenly get traction and come barreling into my car. Which thankfully they didn't.

Every time I visit Minnesota, it makes me want to move back, but then I remember that I hate winter! And its just as bad here...maybe a little warmer, but we have a giant lake that makes it randomly snow 6-12 inches at a time with no warning.

Heidi, Maybe you could be a part time Minnesotan? You know, April - October...maybe do May - Christmas (get a taste of winter but only a little bit) and then live someplace warm the other 6 months. If anyone could do it, I could totally see it being you.
